The Game and Some Definitions |
| |
|
|
| 1.1 |
|
The objective of the game is to maximize the value of a player's
stock portfolio. The winner is the one who can gain the highest
percentage return of his/her stock portfolio at the end of each
"contest round". |
| |
|
|
| 1.2 |
|
Each player can pick his/her own stocks at any time during
the contest. The player can also make additional buy/sell trades
in order to improve the value of one's portfolio. |
| |
|
|
| 1.3 |
|
Each player is assigned an initial "cash balance" equivalent
to HK$500,000 for trading. |
| |
|
|
| 1.4 |
|
The contest runs continuously in "contest rounds".
The end of the current contest round is announced on
our home page. Each
contest round usually runs for two (2) months or so,
depending on the holidays within the period. |
| |
|
|
| 1.5 |
|
The values of all portfolios are evaluated at
the end of each contest round and a winner is determined
for that round. Only the values of stocks are considered for
the evaluation purpose. Any cash balances are not
counted. The winner is the player who has the highest percentage
gain at the end of a contest round. |
| |
|
|
| 1.6 |
|
The game is open to all those over 18 years of age, but you
must register online before you can participate in the game.
Registration is free. |

|
The cash balance and the portfolio are
fictitious and only exist for the purpose of the game.
The players cannot cash in their cash balance or their
portfolio of stocks. In fact, they do not really own any
of the stocks in their portfolio. This is only a game! |

For the purpose of this contest, dividends DO NOT count. If

again. There is NO commissions charges or stamp duties . Cash

|
The ranking of players is determined by the percentage gain/loss
(G) of the palyers' portfolios. The porfolio gain/loss (G)
is calculated using the following formula:
G = V/C
where
G is the gain/loss figure to be used for the determination
of the winner
C is the initial cash balance at the start of the contest
round
V is the value of the stock portfolio at the end of
the contest round NOT including the cash balance

The cumulative number of shares a stock can be traded (both
buy and sell) by each player is limited by the
actual volume of the stock traded in the SEHK market on the
same day. If a player tries to trade more shares than the
actual volume, the excess amount will stay pending for execution
until a higher trade volume is reached.
Example 1: if the actual volume of the stock 1234 traded
in SEHK is 100,000 shares, the total number of shares a player
can trade would be 100,000 shares. If the player places an
order of 120,000 shares, the excess 20,000 shares will become
a pending order until more shares are traded in the SEHK.
Example 2: a player bought 200,000 shares of the stock 2345
and wants to sell the whole lot on the same day. So far, the
actual volume traded is 230,000 shares. As a result, the player
can only sell 30,000 shares because he had already made a
trade of buying 200,000 shares of the same stock.
